Essay: Dignity of work
The Almighty Allah has given, everyone the capacity to work and earn more than his daily need and whoever is ready to utilize that capacity is sure to find work. No labor is mean for one who wants to earn an honest penny. The only thing is the readiness to use the hands and feet that God has given
Real dignity lies in doing some reasonable work. One should keep oneself busy. There is no disgrace if we have to menial work. Rather it is dignity of ones own work. The Holy Prophet (S.A.W) loved doing work not only for him but for others too. His great companions were just like him. They followed him in every walk of life
All great religions of the world have emphasized the dignity of labor. Most of the great religious ruler used to do their work with their own hands and felt pride on it, they were never ashamed of labor. As a matter of fact, labor has a dignity of its own.
In all advanced countries people are proud of doing their own work. For instance an officer, who has only to do brain-work, may willingly do some labor. He may do his own gardening, repair articles in his house white wash himself. He will do this not because he is unable to afford the services of professionals but because he likes to do these things for himself
We should realize that labor is an honorable thing and not something ashamed of.
We should earn our bread by sweat of our brow and that is the dignity work
